Crews spent much of Saturday handling a small fuel spill along the Delaware River in Bristol Borough.

The incident kicked off Saturday morning after a boat tied to the riverfront docks began to sink, causing fuel and oil to leak into the water, officials said.
Bristol Borough firefighters, the Bucks County Special Operations Team, and U.S. Coast Guard responded to the scene.
The boat didn’t completely sink and crews were able to secure it to the dock. It remained there as of Sunday morning.

The U.S. Coast Guard and a contractor oversaw the cleanup, which was completed by late Saturday night, Bristol Borough Deputy Fire Chief AJ DeAngelis said.
As the cleanup was underway, the boat began to sink further and that hampered an effort to remove the pleasure craft, DeAngelis said.

Local firefighters and county officials were monitoring the scene on Saturday as the cleanup was underway. Samples were taken for safety.
There were no reported impacts to drinking water quality.
A Coast Guard spokesperson said the boat was found abandoned recently in the river and has been tied to the dock.

DeAngelis said the owner of the boat was identified and will be required to removed the partly-submerged vessel in a timely fashion.
Due to the length of time were crews at the scene, the Trevose Fire Company’s canteen truck was called to provide food and drinks for responders.

Parts of the wharf were blocked off as officials dealt with the spill, but they had reopened by Sunday morning.
