Coroner IDs Homeless Man Killed By Falling Tree Limbs

The Bucks County Coroner’s Office has identified the man who lost his life due to falling tree limbs last week in Bristol Township.

William George Kennedy, 54, who was homeless, succumbed to his injuries when large tree limbs fell during a storm in the woods near Bristol Garden Apartments and the I-95 exit ramp.

Coroner Meredith Buck disclosed that Kennedy was at a homeless encampment in a wooded area when the incident occurred.

Pennsylvania State Police arrived at the scene around 11:06 p.m. last Thursday only to find Kennedy deceased, having been under the fallen limb for an extended period before troopers could reach him.

The death occurred in a makeshift encampment for some of the area’s unhoused population.

Trooper Nathan Branosky, a spokesperson for the state police, noted that while multiple people appeared to be living in the area, no other injuries were reported.

The encampment where Kennedy was killed was situated on PennDOT property.

At the scene, the Newportville Fire Company assisted in the removal of the fallen tree to assist state police and coroner’s office.

This incident mirrors a similar death in 2018 when Beverly Winder, who was also homeless, was killed after a dead tree fell on her tent in a camp for the unhoused in Bristol Township’s Croydon section.
