Galloway, a Democrat from Falls Township, expressed deep gratitude for the opportunity to serve and highlighted several accomplishments during his time in office.

Galloway’s impending December 15 resignation will open up the 140th Legislative District seat that encompasses Falls Township, Tullytown Borough, and a section of Middletown Township.

Galloway will take retiring District Judge Jan Vislosky’s seat early in the new year, which will trigger a special election in 2024.

Democrats Melanie Bidlingmaier, the chief of staff to Galloway, and Donna Petrecco have announced they are running. No Republican candidates have announced a run for the seat.

Below is Galloway’s letter to constituents:

For the past 17 years it has been the greatest honor of my life to represent the 140th district as your State representative.

Over that time we have brought in more jobs, projects, and money to the district than all my predecessors combined.

May God bless the 140th and May God continue to bless the United State of America.
