
A violent crash left two people injured and caused traffic disruptions on southbound Route 1.

The incident occurred around 4 p.m. Wednesday on the Route 1 southbound ramp to westbound I-295 in Middletown Township.
According to Langhorne-Middletown Fire Company Chief Frank Farry, crews arrived to discover a vehicle in a wooded area with two occupants trapped inside.

The Middletown Township Department of Fire and Emergency Services reported that it took crews eight minutes to free the injured people from the mangled vehicle.

Both individuals were immediately transported to local hospitals via ambulance, Farry said, adding their conditions were not known as of publication.

Farry explained that the car had veered off its ramp, traveled across another, and ultimately ended up in the woods just off the highways.

Photographs from the crash site depict the extent of the damage. Images from the scene show the badly damaged vehicle with its roof cut off.

The crash resulted in traffic delays on Route 1 as authorities worked to clear the scene and conduct an investigation.
Middletown Township police and Pennsylvania State Police were on the scene.
