Sen. Farry, Rep. Hogan Hosting Shredding Event Rain Or Shine

State Sen. Frank Farry and State Rep. Joe Hogan, both Republicans, are teaming up to host a community event aimed at helping residents protect themselves against identity theft.

On Saturday, October 14, from 10 a.m. to noon, at 370 East Maple Avenue, the lawmakers will be offering free paper shredding services to residents of the Sixth Senatorial District. The event will be held rain or shine.

“Identity theft is a growing concern, and this event provides an excellent opportunity for residents to securely dispose of documents containing personal information,” a press release from the lawmakers said.

“This is a great opportunity for residents to properly dispose of documents containing personal information and guard themselves against identity theft,” Farry said.

Residents are encouraged to bring documents that contain sensitive information, such as Social Security numbers, medical records, or bank account numbers, to be thoroughly shredded. To accommodate high demand, individuals will be limited to two file boxes of paper for shredding.

It’s important to note that this event is exclusively for residents; businesses are asked to refrain from participating.

In addition to providing a crucial service in the fight against identity theft, attendees are encouraged to consider bringing non-perishable food item donations for local food banks.

To streamline the process, participants are requested to place all shredding materials and donation items in the trunk of their vehicles before arriving at the event. Upon arrival, attendees should remain in their vehicles, as staff will be available to assist with the removal of materials.

Hogan emphasized the significance of the shredding event.

“Our shredding event is an easy way for residents to dispose of unwanted and sensitive documents. Unfortunately, identity theft is very common today, and I hope the members of our community take advantage of this opportunity to safely dispose of documents containing sensitive information,” Hogan said.

Farry and Hogan’s staff will be on hand throughout the event to address any state-related issues or questions residents may have.
