In court papers filed recently, troopers said they were dispatched at 5:59 p.m. on September 3 for a report of a road rage incident in Middletown Township. Three people reported they were in a vehicle that was targeted by an irate driver.

The three people were in a vehicle that was attempting to get on Route 1 southbound in the township when a blue Subaru overtook them and began shouting profanities. The driver of the Subaru made “obscene gestures with his middle finger,” troopers said.

While on Route 1, both vehicles took the I-295 ramp.

Troopers said the Subaru stopped in front of the car with the three people in it on the ramp. The driver got out while on the ramp, state police said.

“[The man] then exited the blue Subaru and walked toward [the other vehicle], yelling profanities at [the other driver], arguing, and also stated ‘do you want to die?’ The [man] then got back in his vehicle, reversed it and almost hit [the other] vehicle before continuing onto I-295 west,” state police said.

While traveling on the highway, the Subaru driver wouldn’t let the other vehicle pass, swerving all over the highway. He also continued to yell and make “obscene gestures,” troopers said.

As the two cars traveled on I-295, the Subaru driver threw an object at the other car, which struck it and caused damage, troopers said.

At the state police station in Bensalem Township, troopers were able to identify the Subaru and determine it was driven by the 23-year-old Levittown man.

The Levittown man reported later in September to the state police station and was arrested, troopers said.

The Levittown man will have a preliminary hearing in December before District Judge Charles Jonas on charges of reckless endangerment, criminal mischief, depositing waste of a highway, disorderly conduct, propelling a missile into a vehicle, careless driving, illegal parking on a highway, terroristic threats, reckless driving, and more offenses.
