The lockdown happened in the mid-afternoon and lasted only a short time, according to a Cairn University staff member who wasn’t authorized to speak.
Students and staff were alerted of the lockdown via written communication and a loudspeaker announcement.
By later afternoon, according to the staff member of the small Christian university, activities were in full swing on the campus that sits in Middletown Township and Langhorne Manor Borough.

Although the 1,500-student campus is not very large, the university employs a round-the-clock security force, which includes armed officers.
In an unrelated incident, Neshaminy High School went into a precautionary lockdown on Wednesday due to a suicidal subject near the school.
