A Falls Township man has been arrested and accused of raping a 10-year-old girl.

Cory Hegelein, 31, of Falls Township’s Morrisville section, was preliminarily arraigned Monday afternoon before District Judge Jan Vislosky on charges on rape of a child, aggravated indecent assault on a person less than 13 years old, unlawful contact with a minor, statutory sexual assault, indecent assault on a person less than 13 years of age, corruption of minors, and indecent exposure. He was sent to the Bucks County Correctional Facility on 10 percent of $975,000 bail and several conditions, including no contact with the victim.
Hegelein’s arrest comes after months of investigation by Falls Township police and the return of DNA samples sent to the Pennsylvania State Police lab in the Lehigh Valley.
Detectives began looking into reports that a child had “possible inappropriate sexual contact with an adult” last fall.

According to police, Hegelein is accused of raping and sexually assaulting a girl when she was 10 years old at an apartment in Falls Township’s Morrisville section.
The girl, who Hegelein knew, told authorities she had been raped and sexually assaulted by the 31-year-old man several times, police said.

The girl described the encounters to detectives and laid out details that helped pushed the investigation forward, police said.
Hegelein allegedly had sexual contact with the girl while her mother was away at work.
Another child told investigators they recall Hegelein calling the girl into his bedroom by yelling for her to “snuggle,” police said.

Police said the girl reported Hegelein would use a blanket and a towel during the sexual assaults and rapes.
Hegelein also showed the girl pornography, police said.

Falls Township detectives served a search warrant on Hegelein and his apartment, where they located three cell phones and the blanket described by the girl, police said.
According to court papers, Hegelein told detectives the allegations were untrue and the girl had a “strong imagination.”

Detectives said the state police lab found evidence of sperm on the blanket, and it was a partial match to Hegelein.
