Firefighters were quick to arrive and put down a small blaze in a dryer at a laundromat on Friday evening.

The fire was reported at Laundry Depot on Durham Road in Penndel Borough around 5:35 p.m.
The fire in the dryer was quickly extinguished and led to a heavy condition of smoke in the business, said Jim Bampfield, Penndel Borough’s fire marshal.
There were customers in the laundromat, but no injuries were reported.

A customer called 9-1-1 to report the blaze.
Bampfield said the investigation found too many items were in the dryer, which led to the fire.

The Middletown Township Department of Fire and Emergency Management and Penndel Fire Company were on the scene. The Penndel-Middletown Emergency Squad also responded to the scene.
