In their winter weather forecast for 2023-2024, two long-trusted almanacs caution Bucks Countians to gear up with their snow shovels.

Foreseeing a winter characterized by its “snow, seasonable cold, and all of winterโ€™s delights,” the Old Farmerโ€™s Almanac forecast is set to please enthusiasts keen on snowy landscapes, as a frigid blanket is anticipated across most of North America.

Boasting a track record of 80 percent accuracy since its inception in 1792, the Old Farmerโ€™s Almanac paints a picture of a winter wonderland in traditional snowy regions of the U.S., particularly the Northeast.

Bucks County, according to the Old Famer’s Almanac, finds itself squarely in the area where the “cold, snowy” and “mild, snowy” areas overlap.

For the rest of the country, the Old Farmerโ€™s Almanac said, “Most parts of the United States that typically see snow should be prepared for totals at or slightly above normal, creating conditions perfect for wintertime fun!”

The similarly-titled-but-separate Famers’ Almanac has forecasted a “frosty, flakey, slushy” winter for Bucks County.

“The ‘brrr’ is back” with “more snow and low temperatures nationwide,โ€ editor Pete Geiger wrote.

The Farmers’ Almanac, which has been around since 1818,  predicted an early winter blizzard in December.

The almanacs aren’t always correct, but the publications boast that they are correct the majority of the time.
