Middletown Township Parks and Recreation Department’s Summer Camp kids stepped up this year and made a generous donation.

The kids made a contribution to the Ronald McDonald House, raising a remarkable $2,310 from a collaborative car wash initiative across all three camp locations in Middletown Township.

Carol Garner, the Core Creek Park camp site supervisor, emphasized that the eight-week summer camp focused not just on fun and games but on instilling positive values in its campers. Kindness, she pointed out, stood paramount among them.

โ€œThat in a world where you can be anything, always be kind,” Garner said.

Program Specialist Joanne Morelli championed the ethos by dedicating an entire week for campers to perform acts of kindness.

Among other gestures, campers sent heartfelt cards to sick children at St. Mary Medical Center.

Building on their recurring motto, “kindness matters, kindness is contagious,” the camper at different sites unified their efforts. The combined initiative culminated in a car wash event.

Laura Van Tassel, a representative from Ronald McDonald House, was present at last week’s Middletown Township Board of Supervisor’s meeting to receive the donation.
