PennDOT’s Route 1 overhaul will cause traffic stoppages in Middletown Township this week.

The work to set a beam for the new overpass will take place on southbound West Lincoln Highway/Old Lincoln Highway Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
PennDOT said periodic traffic stoppages of up to 15 minutes are planned.
Similar work took place last week.

PennDOT is in the middle of a large project to reconstruct, widen, and improve a three-mile section of Route 1 in Bensalem and Middletown townships.
The Route 1 project is on Phase 2. The second phase will widen the highway.

The $95 million Phase 1 of the project in Bensalem Township is mostly completed.
The $111.5 million Phase 2 of the project is being carried out by Chester County-based contractor JD Eckman Inc. The work is expected to be done in mid-2026.
A planned third phase would begin at the Penndel Interchange and continue just past the Pine Street (Route 413) overpass in Middletown Township.

Unrelated saw cutting work will take place nearby Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Highland Avenue between Avenue F and Hulmeville Road. A lane closure is scheduled.
