Residents have two ways to influence the creation of the Multimodal Improvement Plan (MIP), an initiative to enhance transportation safety and infrastructure in the area.

The MIP is geared towards assessing and proposing enhancements to the current pedestrian and bicycle systems. One of the primary aims is to reduce the community’s reliance on single-occupant motor vehicles, the township said.
Residents can participate by:
- Taking an Online Survey: The feedback will contribute to the blueprint of the Middletown Township Multimodal Improvements Plan. The survey aims to look at existing pedestrian and bicycle amenities and propose measures to ramp up safety across all transportation modes.
- Using a Mapping Tool: A digital mapping tool allows locals to illustrate preferred bicycle routes, trails, and sidewalks. It’s also a way to pinpoint gaps in sidewalks, propose crosswalk spots, and identify regions posing challenges or safety issues.
The public will also be able to take part in a meeting slated for Tuesday, September 28 where further discussions on the MIP will be held.

Funded entirely by a Transportation and Community Development Initiative grant from the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission, the MIP seeks to look at possibilities to boost pedestrian facilities like sidewalks, trails, and bike lanes, and also enhance access to public transit.
The Middletown Township Board of Supervisors has engaged Simone Collins as a consulting entity.
