Man Accused Of Breaking Into Home, Pulling Handgun

A man has been charged with a late spring incident where he allegedly broke into a home and displayed a handgun.

Victor Ballard, 42, of Bristol Borough, is awaiting a preliminary hearing on two counts of burglary and single counts of criminal trespassing, possession of a weapon, terroristic threats, possession of an instrument of crime with intent, simple assault, reckless endangerment, and criminal mischief.

According to court papers, Bristol Borough police were dispatched to the 300 block of East Circle at 3:49 a.m. on June 6 for a report of a domestic incident involving an armed person. A dispatcher relayed that a person was armed and forcing their way into a residence, according to court papers.

Officers arrived and spoke with the homeowner, who knew Ballard. She was at the scene with other family members, police said.

Ballard reportedly arrived at the home searching for a family member who had sought distance from the 42-year-old man due prior behavior, police said.

One person at the scene told police Ballard had been in a manic state and hallucinating due to drug use.

After gathering statements from witnesses, an officer wrote in court papers that Ballard arrived at the East Circle home to find the front door locked. At that point, Ballard threw a large rock into the front glass stormdoor, causing the glass to shatter, police said.

Moments later, Ballard then thew another rock at the home’s main front door before forcing it open, police said.

Several family members were inside the home, including young children, police said.

Ballard entered the home, displayed the handgun he had, and threatened to kill the family, police said.

The family secured themselves in a bedroom and called the police.

Ballard fled the home and was later captured by officers, police said.

Ballard has been held at the Bucks County Correctional Facility on 10 percent of $75,000 bail.
