Driver Injured When Car Hits Pole

A driver was injured in a Monday night crash near the Oxford Valley Mall in Middletown Township.

The crash happened on Woodbourne Road between First and Second avenues around 9:10 p.m.

The car slammed through a utility pole along the side of Woodbourne Road, causing significant damage to the car and the utility pole, according to Langhorne-Middletown Fire Company Chief Frank Farry.

The initial call was for a crash with entrapment and fire, but crews arrived to find the vehicle was not on fire. However, the damaged power lines were arcing and sparking, Farry said.

The arcing and sparking caused a nearby tree to catch fire, Farry said.

The Penndel-Middletown Emergency Squad treated the injured driver, Farry said.

Woodbourne Road was closed for an extended period of time due to the crash.
