A woman accused of shooting her estranged husband to death at a Bristol Borough park will head to trial.
Sammar Khan, 40, of Bristol Township’s Levittown section, had charges of criminal homicide, murder, possession of an instrument of crime with intent, and reckless endangerment held for trial following a preliminary hearing Wednesday before District Judge Frank Peranteau Sr.

The hearing at the Bristol Borough district courthouse started in the morning and ended by early afternoon.
Khan has been accused of shooting her husband, Faisal Iqbal, 39, of Levittown, at Bristol Borough Waterfront Park on the morning of Tuesday, May 30 as the couple’s pre-K-aged son was nearby.
The shooting happened near the Delaware River and rocked the borough. A number of people were in the area around the park when the shots rang out.

Iqbal and Khan were spotted by witnesses talking along the beach when she was heard speaking loudly in another language. At that point, witnesses heard a pop and saw Iqbal brush his hand on his body. He then began to wrestle with Khan and additional pops were heard, police said.
After the pops were heard, Iqbal began walking toward the Mill Street Parking Lot and told a bystander to call 9-1-1. Khan then fired two more shots at Iqbal, causing him to collapse to the ground. She then raised the 9mm handgun as he laid on the ground and fired twice at his stomach and then once in the head, police said.

Police and the Bucks County Rescue Squad responded. Medics pronounced Iqbal deceased at the scene, police said.
Khan, a mother of four who worked part-time at Dunkin’, told detectives she went to the park to discuss the relationship with her estranged husband. The woman reportedly told them the meeting did not go well and she killed Iqbal.
The young son at the park was unhurt. His three siblings were not at the park, and all the children were later placed in the custody of Bucks County Children and Youth.

It has been reported that Khan and Iqbal had a tumultuous relationship.
Iqbal filed for divorce from Khan in April. The case was in its initial stages, according to a county civil court docket.

In April 2022, Iqbal was arrested for violating a court order. He was ordered by Bucks County Court of Common Pleas Judge Stephen Corr to serve 60 days in county jail.
Khan has been jailed without bail since the shooting.
