Neshaminy Summer Stock is back for their 56th year hosting three shows at Neshaminy High School.

The shows started started on Wednesday, July 19 and continue through Sunday, July 23.
The Main Stage show (grades 7-12) this year is Mamma Mia! This Broadway hit is a celebration of love, friendship and the timeless music of ABBA. The show features energetic dancing, an emotional story, a live pit orchestra and spectacular lighting. Shows are Wednesday, Thursday and Friday July 19-21 at 7pm; Saturday, July 22 at 1pm and 8pm and Sunday, July 23 at 1pm. All tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the door.

The Theater Workshop show (grades 4-6) is Finding Nemo, Jr. This familiar story, based on the 2003 Pixar movie, also features music from the stage show, “Finding Nemo…the Big Blue and Beyond” at Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park. Audiences will be delighted by the iconic story, colorful staging and bright music. Shows are Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, July 20-23 at 11 am each day. Tickets are $10 reserved / $8 general admission, and can also be purchased at the door.
Both the Main Stage and Theater Workshop Shows are held in Theodore Kloos Auditorium at the high school in Middletown Township.

The youngest performers (grades 2-3) in the Summer Stock Showcase are performing a series of musical sketches based on classic Fairy Tales, ranging from the Big Bad Wolf and Snow White to The Three Little Pigs and The Wizard of Oz. Three shows are sold out (Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, July 19-21 at 1:30 pm) but some tickets remain for a second show on Friday at 3:30 pm. Tickets can be purchased at the door. The Showcase performances are held in the Black Box Theater at the high school.

Summer Stock has been a tradition of Neshaminy School District since the first production in 1965. The program was built to give students the opportunity to “put on a show,” and has evolved into a program where students learn all aspects of theatre. Each level challenges young performers to find and develop their individual talents while learning and using team skills and building friendships. Auditions begin in late May each year and the shows are rehearsed and staged in just over three weeks in July with guidance from a dedicated team of theater, music and education professionals.

This year, 273 students from Neshaminy School District and other schools throughout lower Bucks County are participating in the program.
Several Summer Stock alumni have gone on to professional roles over the years.

Dan Horn, a 2009 Neshaminy High School graduate who is now a Broadway actor with credits including “Some Like it Hot,” “Miss Saigon” and Bullets over Broadway,” returned to Neshaminy during this year’s Summer Stock to share his expertise with some of the performers during a recent Master Class.
