It is with tremendous sadness and sorrow that we mourn the loss of one of our own.
Chief Hugh Cooperman passed away on Monday June 12. He was an extremely dedicated and active member of our organization for forty years. He served in multiple positions including Chief. He was a life member that was a mentor and well-respected by so many within the community.
We ask that you keep Hugh’s family as well as our EMS family in your thoughts.

Hugh Cooperman didn’t just work at Maple Point.

For three decades, Coop’s kindness, loyalty and infectious laugh have made this great school a better place to teach, learn and work. When you saw Coop in the hallways, the nurses’ office or out on the bus port, you saw someone doing their job with tremendous pride and enthusiasm. And you always walked away smiling.
Coop cared deeply about our staff and students. He took the time to learn who they were, what was important to them and how things were going in their life. When someone hit a rough stretch, he was first in line to offer comfort and support. His expertise and service to our community provided a sense of stability that was much needed during challenging situations.

We, like many in this community, are hurting as we try to process Coop’s passing. However, we will use his life as a great source of inspiration moving forward. Our students will know who he was and how much he meant to us. No one could ever replace all that he’s contributed to our school over the years, but we can try to do the little things he did each day to make life more worthwhile and enjoyable.
Our thoughts are prayers are with Pauline, Zack, Jared and all who loved him.
Rest in peace, Coop. Your legacy will always be alive and well at Maple Point.

Below is the statement from the Maple Point Middle School PTO:
Coop wasn’t just our head custodian, he was an integral part of Maple Point Middle School. He supported every fundraiser, pulled up on a firetruck as Santa at every MP Holiday Dance and cheered on our children like a proud dad. He made himself available 24/7 so that every event was just right for staff and students. Coop, we love you and you will be in our hearts forever.
