Public Invited To Honor Unclaimed Veterans At Cemetery

The Bucks County Coroner’s Office has announced the identification of five unclaimed person who served in the armed forces.

These individuals, who passed away between 2008 and 2010, include a World War II veteran, three veterans from the Vietnam Era, and one veteran from the Korean War Era.

In an effort to honor these men and provide them with a proper resting place, Bucks County Coroner Meredith Buck invites the community to attend the Unattended Veterans Service at Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Upper Makefield Township. The ceremony will take place at 830 Highland Road on Thursday, May 25 at 2 p.m.

โ€œThe community is invited to join the Bucks County Coronerโ€™s Office at the Unattended Veterans Service at Washington Crossing National Cemetery to honor men who served our country and have them properly laid to rest,” Buck said.

The veterans being interred during the ceremony are Richard Cadwallder, a U.S. Army private during the Vietnam War-era from Morrisville Borough; John Gale, a Vietnam War-era U.S. Navy radioman petty officer 3rd class from Middletown Township; Joseph Kosco, a Korean War-era U.S. Army specialist 3rd class from Telford Borough; Joseph Miller, a World War II-era U.S. Army private 1st class from Middletown Township; and Bruce Nelson, a Vietnam War-era U.S. Army specialist 4th class from Middletown Township.

During the ceremony, the names of these veterans will be read aloud, and the Pennsylvania Military Honors team will present the flag on their behalf. A rifle salute and live Taps will be performed as a tribute to their service.

Following the ceremony, each veteran will be placed in their own niche in the columbarium, which will be engraved with the words “Proudly Served.”

The Bucks County Coroner’s Office encourages the local community to attend the Unattended Veterans Service and pay their respects.
