Officer Jane Areias and Officer Teddy Tabasco, who both joined the police department last fall, were sworn in by District Judge Terry Hughes, a former township officer, during the Bristol Township Council meeting.
Areias, whose brother Kyle is a Bucks County Ranger, is a 2018 Neshaminy High School graduate. She grew up locally.
Areias graduated from the criminal justice program at West Chester University in 2021. She then graduated from the Temple University Municipal Police Academy.

Prior to joining Bristol Township’s police department, Areias served as a part-time officer in Tullytown Borough.
Officer Teddy Tabasco is a New Jersey native who always wanted to be a police officer. He comes from a family with a history of serving in the military or joining a police force.

Tabasco graduated from Chestnut Hill College with a criminal justice degree and attended Delaware County Community College Municipal Police Academy.
The officers joined the roughly 50-officer department. The agency has been hiring to fill slots opened through attrition in recent years.
Bristol Township Council President Craig Bowen thanked the department and the new officers for their work.

Editor’s Note: The spelling of Officer Areias’ name has been corrected. A handout from the township incorrectly spelled the officer’s last name.
