Fire crews responded to a nursing home Friday morning and tackled a problem that was initially thought to be a fire.

The incident occurred at approximately 5:30 a.m. when dispatchers initially received reports of a fire alarm activation at the Silver Lake Nursing Home, located near Lower Bucks Hospital in Bristol Township, and sent the Third District Fire Company.
Within a short amount of time, the situation escalated, prompting dispatchers to upgrade the assignment to a building fire due to reports of smoke and water inside the facility, according to the fire company.
In response to the upgraded call, multiple fire companies were summoned to the scene. The Bristol, Bristol Consolidated, Croydon, Goodwill Hose, Newportville, and Penndel fire companies responded to assist, the fire company said.

At the nursing home, firefighters discovered that a hot water line had ruptured in the ceiling of a storage room, causing water to flow into the facility.
Working with the nursing home’s maintenance staff, the crews located and secured a valve in the basement to halt the water flow.
