The Langhorne-Middletown Fire Company received an unusual dispatch from the 9-1-1 center on Sunday.

The call was for a cockatoo that had escaped its owner and was stuck in a tree along Carlene Court in Middletown Township.
The call prompted Chief Frank Farry to take immediate action, driving to the home to assess the situation.
Upon arrival, Farry determined that the fire company’s apparatus would not be able to access the location in a tree where the bird was located.

With limited options, Farry reached out to Lee Stocker, the owner of Stocker Tree Service, for assistance.
Stocker quickly responded by bringing one of his bucket trucks to the scene, which allowed him to retrieve the bird, affectionately named “Sidney,” from the tree, the fire company said.

The rescue mission was successful, and the bird and its grateful owner were safely reunited.
Farry expressed gratitude to Stocker, describing him as a reliable and member of the community who the fire company knows they can count.
