PennDOT crews closed a portion of Hulmeville Avenue in Penndel Borough Tuesday.

The closure will run through late in April and is due to utility work that is part of the ongoing intersection upgrades.
The round-the-clock closure will take place between West Lincoln Highway and Crescent Street in the borough through April 25. Drivers are being detoured to use Bellevue Avenue and East Lincoln Highway.
PennDOT is keeping local access up to the closure, a statement said.

Local access will be maintained up to the work zone for residents.
PennDOT contractor Road-Con, Inc., of West Chester, Chester County, is revamping the existing intersection of West Lincoln Highway and Hulmeville Avenue and West Lincoln Highway and Noeland Avenue.

The project includes widening the existing intersection to add exclusive left-turn lanes; milling, paving and striping the intersection and its approaches; upgrading existing traffic signal equipment; and installing new ADA curb ramps. The state will also be replacing the existing sidewalk along the north and south side of West Lincoln Highway approaching the intersection with Hulmeville Avenue; adjusting the curbing to improve truck turning radius; and upgrading drainage inlets and pipes.
The work is weather dependent.
PennDOT has urged drivers to allow for extra time in the area of the project.

The $2.2 million project is funded by federal money, and will be completed later this year.
