A kindergarten student at Tawanka Elementary School had a heartwarming surprise during a career assembly on Monday.
Lydia, a student in teacher Nicole Kane’s class, proudly raised her hand when the presenter mentioned “soldier” as a potential career. She spoke about her father, U.S. Army First Sgt. Chris Thompson, who has been serving the country overseas and whom she had not seen for several months.
Little did Lydia know that her father was actually present at the assembly.
The emotional reunion was captured on video and has since gone viral.
The Neshaminy School District organized the career assembly, which aimed to expose young students to various professions. However, the surprise reunion stole the show and tugged on heart strings.
The video of the heartwarming moment has been widely shared on social media more than 175 times and gained more than 12,000 views.
