Newportville Boy Wins Honors At Lafayette College For Boxing

Edgar H. Smith, Newportville, a freshman at Lafayette College, won the 175-pound boxing championship of the college in the 16th annual sports carnival held recently.

An exhibition of gymnasium work and the finals in boxing, wrestling,and other events were run off under the supervision of Harry E. Brown, director of physical education, and Mike Miller, instructor in physical education.

Smith in his bout with Bentler was up against a stiff opponent, but Bentley weakened under the hammering of Smith. Smith received a pair of miniature gold boxing gloves and has also won his numerals in football and basketball this year.
