A man was arrested by Penndel Borough police last month after he allegedly caused serious issues at the station, according to a statement released this week.
On February 20, Alexander R. Werts, 39, was arrested by the Penndel Borough Police Department in connection with a domestic assault case involving his girlfriend. Werts was located and apprehended without incident in the Penndel Plaza shopping center, police said.

During his detention in the police headquarters’ cell block, Werts exhibited violent behavior that necessitated an emergency response, police said.
According to police, Werts began kicking the metal door and hitting his head against the wall while in the cell. As a result of his actions, an ambulance was called to the scene, and Werts was transported to the emergency room for treatment, police said.
During the transfer, Werts reportedly became “extremely irate,” and he had to be restrained on the stretcher by assisting officers.

Upon arrival at the hospital, Werts continued his violent outburst, assaulting doctors, nurses, and damaging medical equipment.
Officers from Penndel were assisted by the Hulmeville and Langhorne borough police departments.

The following day, Werts was arraigned in the hospital via secure court video chat and remanded into custody of the Bucks County Correctional Facility on 10 percent of $100,000 bail by District Judge Daniel Baranoski. He is facing multiple charges of aggravated assault, assault by prisoner, terroristic threats, simple assault, harassment, and other offenses.
