Suspected Stolen Vehicle Flees Crash, Slams Into Tree

An SUV crashed into a tree after fleeing a crash and then the driver tried to run away on foot, according to police.

The incident happened around 10 a.m. Wednesday when the suspected stolen SUV hit another car at the intersection of Woodbourne and Bristol-Oxford Valley Road in Middletown Township, Capt. Pete Feeney said.

The SUV drove off and Middletown Township and Bristol Township police were following it on Wistar Road, where it struck a tree as the vehicle attempted to flee, Feeney said.

The driver then got out of the SUV and ran away on foot, the police commander said.

The suspect was pursued on foot for a short time before being arrested in Bristol Township, Feeney said.

The name of the suspect wasn’t released.

No injuries were reported in the incident.

Feeney said the incident remains under investigation.
