
Two vehicles collided and the two drivers died in an early Sunday morning crash on I-295.

The crash happened around 3:20 a.m. on I-295 eastbound near the Route 1 interchange when two vehicles violently collided head-on in Middletown Township.
Langhorne-Middletown Fire Company Chief Frank Farry said the two drivers were both pronounced deceased at the scene.
Images posted online from the Penndel Fire Company show the force of the collision and severe damage to both vehicles, a sedan and a small SUV.

There were early reports one of the vehicles may have been traveling the wrong way, but Pennsylvania State Police were still investigating the cause of the crash.
Farry said fire crews assisted the coroner’s office and state police at the scene and remained on location until 6 a.m.

The crash caused traffic on eastbound Route 1 to be blocked for several hours.
