When the Philadelphia Eagles face-off against the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship, some local fans won’t be cheering for the hometown team, and they will have good reason not do so.

Bill McGlinchey, the owner of B & B True Value Hardware on State Road in Bristol Township’s Croydon section, will be leading the cheers.

The McGlincheys are proud of their grandson, 49ers’ offensive lineman Mike McGlinchey, who played football at a Philadelphia charter school before going to Notre Dame University and then the NFL.

NBC 10 profiled the McGlincheys on Tuesday evening.

“Croydon here has adopted him as a son,” said Tim McGlincy, the NFLers’ uncle.

Bill McGlinchey joked on the TV report that he hopes no one breaks his store’s windows because they have 49ers gear displayed in the small business, a longtime staple in the area.

The hardware store owner said with a chuckle that his eldest grandson can come back and work at the store if his NFL career doesn’t work out.
