An early morning apartment fire in Falls Township left no injuries, but one apartment was uninhabitable and another was damaged.

Firefighters were called to the A building of the Pennsbury Woods Apartments on New Falls Road around 12:50 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a blaze.
Arriving police found smoke pouring from a window of an apartment, according to Fire Marshal Rich Dippolito.
Police and fire officials went through the building and knocked on doors to alert residents of the fire, Dippolito said.

A woman and child living in the burning apartment were alerted by a neighbor banging on their door after noticing smoke, the fire marshal said.
Crews entered the smoke-filled apartment and extinguished the fire in a bedroom, Dippolito said.

The fire was placed under control quickly, Dippolito told LevittownNow.com.
No residents or pets were hurt in the fire.
The apartment where the fire happened was left uninhabitable and the unit below suffered water damage, Dippolito said.

The cause of the blaze was under investigation as of mid-morning Wednesday, but an early theory is that a fresh, warm load of laundry that was covered in cooking oil may have been to blame, Dippolito said.
The apartment building’s smoke alarms did not go off because the blaze was small enough at the time it was discovered. The door to the bedroom where the fire occurred was closed, which likely slowed its spread, Dippolito explained.

The blaze was handled by the Falls Township Fire Company with assistance from the Edgely, Fairless Hills, Levittown No. 1, Levittown No. 2, William Penn, and Yardley fire companies.
