A spokesperson for Bank of America said customers’ funds are secure and Zelle accounts updated.

Bank of America customers in Lower Bucks County noticed a problem Wednesday morning – their accounts were showing missing money or negative balances when the funds should have been there.

One local customer said they checked their electronic Bank of America account and realized the issue.

They attempted to call to a support agent, but had no luck as the lines were busy.

The problem was with digital payments network Zelle, which Bank of America uses, according to a message in provided to users by Bank of America.

โ€œZelle transactions made between January 14th and January 17th may be delayed in occurring and posting to accounts as requested. Transfers will be completed and will appear in your account activity and balances as soon as possible,” the message to customers said.

โ€œWe apologize for any delay or inconvenience,โ€ the message told customers.

Some account owners were surprised by the delay, and many of them rushed to social media to voice their complaints.

According to Down Detector, a popular website for tracking service outages, customer reports of Bank of America service outages increased on Wednesday morning.

Zelle, which is similar to Venmo and CashApp, was created in 2017. It is operated by a firm owned by Bank of America, Capital One, JP Morgan Chase, PNC, Truist, U.S. Bank, and Wells Fargo.
