Crews from several fire companies went to work battling a blaze that was deep inside the trailer.
Newportville Fire Company Chief John Doster said the tractor-trailer was well-involved and crews sprayed water in the back and through holes they cut in the trailer.
Rob’s Automotive and firefighters pulled the produce from the burning tractor-trailer and fought stubborn flames inside.

Traffic heading northbound was backed up as crews were battling the flames.
Doster said the Newportville Fire Company was able to get crews to the scene so quickly because they were already out wrapping up their Santa run. However, the jolly man was already on his way back to the North Pole by the time crews were called to the blaze.
Bristol Township Fire Marshal Kevin Dippolito said he was not called to investigation. He said the investigation will likely fall on the Pennsylvania State Police.

In addition to the Newportville Fire Company, the Eddington, Cornwells, Parkland, and Penndel fire companies also responded.
