Altomare, who also works for Bensalem Fire Rescue, suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the Saturday blaze at a book warehouse in the 1300 block of Bridgewater Road in Bensalem Township, less than a mile from the border with Bristol Township.

Firefighters and police lined Altomare’s street Monday evening to welcome him home.

“We are happy that Nick was able to ‘escape’ the hospital after a brief stay and will be able to rest more comfortably at home. Thanks to the neighbors who also came out to welcome Nick back. Nick’s not out of the woods just yet he still has a long road ahead,” a post from the Nottingham Fire Company said.

The particular injuries Altomore suffered after falling about 25-feet from a ladder at the two-alarm fire were not reported, but he was listed in stable condition at Jefferson Torresdale Hospital prior to being released.

The fire is being investigated by Bensalem Township fire investigators, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), and police.
