A bagel and coffee shop that has operated in Middletown Township for years closed recently.

The Einstein Bros. Bagels in the Summit Square Shopping Center along the Newtown Bypass closed at the end of November, according to LevittownNow.com readers.
A sign posted on the door to the bagel and coffee shop read “Sorry. We’re permanently closed.”
A list on the company website read that it was closed only temporarily. The company didn’t immediately return a request for comment.

Signage for the business was taken down by the time a reporter drove past on Monday morning.
Einstein Bros. Bagels has been a mainstay in the shopping center and has been open at least 15 years.

Einstein Bros. Bagels continues to operate a location in the Oxford Oaks Shopping Center off Big Oak Road in Lower Makefield Township.
Einstein Bros. Bagels is owned by Panera Brands, which operates Panera Bread and Caribou Coffee. Einstein Bros. Bagels is corporate siblings with Bruegger’s Bagels, Noah’s New York Bagels, and Manhattan Bagel, which have more than 1,000 locations.
Not far from the closed bagel shop, customers can visit Newtown Bagel on Swamp Road in Newtown Township, Yardley Bagel Cafe on Stony Hill Road in Lower Makefield Township, and Langhorne Coffee House on Bellevue Avenue in Langhorne Borough as alternatives.
