Obituary: Donald “Durcell” Jones, 71

It is with a heavy heart that we mourn the passing of our friend, Brother, Father, and mentor Donald “Durcell” Jones. He was fond of saying in times of peril that he strived to stay positive in a negative environment.

Durcell passed away in his home with no resistance, surrounded by loved ones on November 18th, 2022 at the age of 71.

He was born and raised in Edison, NJ to Father Lance Jones and Mother Viola (Dale). Having a fascination with electricity from an early age, he attended Edison Polytechnic High School where he studied electrical storage mediums including batteries. He was employed by PSE&G as a line maintenance worker / conductor and eventually became a supervisor for the same company. In his free time he enjoyed playing the electric organ which acted as an outlet for many of his creative passions.

Durcell moved to the Levittown area in the late 70s where he would meet his future wife Nikki “Nikola” Barnes, a factory worker and part-time seamstress from the area.

A grounded family man, they had 3 children together, John (1978), Jasmine (1980), and Leonard (1983). He enjoyed watching sports and was a lifelong fan of the Los Angeles Chargers.
