Firefighters were dispatched to the home at 605 Veterans Highway in Bristol Township for a report of a blaze around 11:40 a.m.

The fire was in a second-floor bedroom and was contained by responding crews, Bristol Township Fire Marshal Kevin Dippolito said.

Third District Fire Company Chief Howard McGoldrick said firefighters were quick to arrive and that assisted with keeping the blaze from spreading.

The fire marshal and police detectives are working on probing the cause of the blaze.

The four residents of the home, which is a rental, escaped unharmed, Dippolito said.

“There were no working smoke alarms on the second floor,” he said.

The home was the site of the December 18, 2021 stabbing death of Charlie Thomas Jr., 43. David Joseph Jenner, 38, of Bristol Township, has been charged in the homicide and is awaiting trial in December, according to court records.

At least two of the residents were reported to have been detained Tuesday by police because they had warrants.

The fire caused Veterans Highway to be closed in the area of the fire for approximately 45 minutes.

Bristol Township Fire Rescue and the Croydon, Newportville, and Croydon fire companies were on the scene. In addition, the Bucks County Rescue Squad responded.
