August 14

DUI

At around 2:45 a.m., an officer driving on Lincoln Highway observed a vehicle going the opposite way without illuminated headlights. Additionally, after passing the officer’s vehicle the automatic license plate reader system in the car alerted that the vehicle had an expired registration. The vehicle was stopped in the area of Penndel Towing and contact was made with the driver, and sole occupant, of the vehicle. The driver identified himself as a 21-year-old man with a Pennsylvania driver’s license. While speaking with the man, the officer could detect the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath and person. The man was given the opportunity to participate in field sobriety exercises but was unable to complete them without difficulty. The man was arrested for suspected DUI.

August 18

Possession Of A Controlled Substance

An officer was parked and observing traffic for speeding violations. He observed a gray sedan traveling at 60 mph in a posted 35 mph zone on Lincoln Highway. The officer stopped the vehicle and made contact with the driver and sole occupant, a 33-year-old man. While speaking with the man, the officer could detect the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The man did provide the officer with a bag containing marijuana upon request by the officer. The man will be sent a summons to appear in court. 

DUI

An officer participating in an aggressive driving detail was observing traffic on Lincoln Highway. The officer observed a vehicle in the 300 block of West Lincoln Highway that was traveling without the required emissions or Inspection stickers. The officer stopped the vehicle and spoke to the driver and sole occupant a 23-year-old man. While speaking to the man, the officer could detect the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the breath and person. The man was asked to participate in field sobriety exercises which he was unable to complete without difficulty. Charges are pending the outcome of lab testing. 

August 14

Theft

A call was placed to the Penndel Borough Police Department about a theft from a business on Lincoln Highway. Officers responded to the Penndel Pub for the report of a theft of an e-bike, valued at $1600. The owner of the pub reported that the incident was captured on the security system since the bike was parked underneath a camera. Both the victim and the owner were able to ID the suspect as a 33-year-old woman. When asked how they knew who the subject was, the owner stated that the woman had applied for a job earlier in the day. Due to multiple addresses listed for the woman, a warrant was issued and the woman was arrested August 31 by Pennsylvania State Police troopers when they came in contact with her. The woman waived her preliminary hearing and will appear in court in Doylestown in October. 

August 24

Arrest

An officer driving in the area of the district court observed a suspicious vehicle parked on the road across from the courthouse. The driver was seen walking into the building. A check of the registration on the vehicle found an active warrant for the 26-year-old woman out of Montgomery County. A PennDOT photo matched the woman who walked into the courthouse. The officer confirmed that the warrant was still active and entered the building. The woman was approached and she confirmed her name and date of birth. The woman was arrested and turned over to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office upon their arrival to the Penndel Borough Police Department. 

August 30

Arrest

An officer was checking the status of vehicle registrations in the area of Lincoln Highway and Durham Road. The officer observed a white GMC van pull out onto Lincoln Highway. The registration came back to a Chevrolet, not the GMC it was currently displayed on. Also, the registered owner of the vehicle had a suspended driver’s license. Upon stopping the vehicle, the driver was identified as a 59-year-old man. He told officers that he did not have insurance on the vehicle and he knew that his driver’s license was suspended. The man also said he knew the vehicle wasn’t registered. Computer checks yielded an active warrant from Pennsylvania State Police in Luzerne County. The man was arrested and sent to Bucks County Correctional Facility until troopers could bring him back to Luzerne County.

September 4

Possession Of A Controlled Substance

An officer was conducting a roving DUI patrol throughout Penndel Borough when he observed a vehicle make an abrupt lane change without using a signal and so close to another vehicle that it constituted a hazard. The officer observed an additional rapid lane change and again the driver almost made contact with the vehicle. The car was stopped on Lincoln Highway and contact was made with the 36-year-old female driver. She was the sole occupant in the vehicle. During the traffic stop, officers recovered suspected heroin and cocaine from the woman and her belongings. The woman was arrested and will be sent a summons to appear in court.

September 8

Possession Of A Controlled Substance

An officer conducting routine patrols discovered a vehicle parked behind a business. While driving past the vehicle, the officer was able to see that the male standing next to the vehicle was holding a tube that contained a green leafy substance and pouring the contents on to a cigar wrapper. Officers approached the subject who identified himself as a 27-year-old man. Upon further inspection, the green leafy substance had the consistency and odor of marijuana. The man was released from the scene and will be sent a summons to appear in court pending the outcome of lab testing.

September 11

DUI

Officers were dispatched to the area of Hulmeville Avenue and South Bellevue Avenue for the report of a crash. Upon their arrival, officers found a green van disabled in the roadway with no one in the vehicle. Bystanders stated they saw a subject leave the scene of the accident, running down Oak Avenue, and were able to provide a clothing description of the man who left. Officers were able to find the subject who matched the description of the person leaving the scene. The subject initially refused to provide ID, but eventually did provide information that identified him as a 36-year-old man. He stated he wasn’t driving the vehicle, however vehicle keys found in the man ‘s pocket activated the locking system on the van. During field sobriety testing, the man showed signs of impairment. He was then arrested for suspected DUI. The man will be sent a summons to appear in court.

September 13

DUI

An officer at the intersection of South Bellevue Avenue and West Lincoln Highway observed a vehicle make a left hand turn from Bellevue Avenue to Lincoln Highway while a person was walking in the crosswalk. The driver of the vehicle came very close to hitting the person, who had to change her walking path due to the vehicle. The officer turned around and stopped the vehicle in a parking lot on Lincoln Highway. While speaking with the driver and sole occupant, officers observed that the driver appeared disorientated, confused, and couldn’t answer basic questions. The driver was identified as a 32-year-old man. When the man exited the vehicle, officers could see in plain sight multiple empty beer cans along with one being open and half full. The can was still cool. The man was asked to participate in field sobriety exercises, which he was unable to complete. The man was arrested for suspected DUI. He’ll also be sent a summons to appear in court.

September 17

Arrest

While on patrol, an officer pulled into the Penndel 7-Eleven and found a man who was known to be wanted. The subject, a 44-year-old man, was arrested and the status of the warrant was confirmed. During the search of his person after the arrest, a baggie of suspected methamphetamine was found in his wallet. The man will be cited for the possession and will appear in court.
