
A crushed car nearly fell onto busy Route 1 in Middletown Township Friday afternoon.
Around 1:35 p.m., traffic backed up on Route 1 northbound and closed the Oxford Valley Road off-ramp due to the incident.
Police said a truck loaded with crushed cars was traveling along the highway when the load shifted. One of the crushed cars began to hang over the side of the truck.
The truck stopped on the off-ramp due to the dangerous situation.
The car did not fall off the truck at any point.
The truck was moved off the highway and the load was reposition and re-secured, police said.
The truck belonged to an area scrap metal facility.
