The Falls Township Board of Supervisors voted last week to readvertise the Rice Drive culvert removal and replacement project.

The culvert on Rice Drive near Annamarie Drive in the Morrisville section of the township failed after heavy storms last year. A large sinkhole was left behind.
The failing culvert is made of corrugated metal pipe.
A previous effort to put the project out to bid ended with no contractors bidding.

“Township engineer Joseph Jones provided engineering services related to the design of a concrete structure spanning the portion of Martins Creek that passes under Rice Drive at Annamarie Drive. The firm obtained professional surveying services, topographic data needed for permits, in addition to preparing bid schedules, advertisements and attendance at pre-bid meetings, bid evaluations and responsible contractor reviews. The firm would also provide construction inspection and oversight, as well as construction administration,” the township said in a statement.
Rice Drive will be closed and traffic will be detoured while the work occurs. The work is estimated to take three months, Jones said last year.
