Firefighters were called to the Wheelabrator facility in the 1200 block of New Ford Mill Road at 10:28 p.m. for a report of a blaze.
At the scene, the pile of waste material was ablaze inside the large waste-to-energy facility.
Falls Township Fire Marshal Rich Dippolito said sprinklers inside the building kept the flames in check.

Wheelabrator crews used heavy equipment to pull apart the burning pile of waste as firefighters doused it with water, Dippolito said.
No injuries were reported, and the facility did not suffer serious damage.
The fire marshal hasn’t determined the cause, but he suspects the blaze was ignited by a piece of trash that was flammable being improperly disposed of.
