Bristol Township officials are getting fed up with how parents and kids are treating the new Municipal Park off Bath Road.

Recently, Bristol Township Manager Randee Elton had a simple message for families who use the playground and popular spray park – watch your kids!

Elton said a number of incidents have caused frustration among township officials and families.

“The biggest thing I’m pleading is that parents be parents – watch your children,” she said.

Elton added parks department staff will remind parents of the rules and ask them to leave if their kids aren’t following them.

Her message was met with applause at a recent Bristol Township Council meeting. Several council members agreed with her statement.

The township’s main park has seen kids left unattended while parents walk to watch nearby sporting events, damage to the spray park due to food dropping, and kids defecating on playground equipment recently. Last year, the township had problems with parents not following the rules and inadvertently damaging the spray park equipment.

Discussing kids defecating on park equipment, Elton said it’s a problem that should not even be one.

“We shouldn’t have to post signs that kids shouldn’t be doing that,” the frustrated government official stated. “We can joke about it, but it’s really not funny.”

Council member Patrick Antonello has called for signs to be erected to advise parents.

Elton said signs are being put up and advisories are being issued on the township’s social media accounts.

“We will ask people to leave if they’re not paying attention to us,” the township manager warned.
