If you’ve seen Lake Luxembourg at Core Creek Park recently, it certainly is looking a bit different than just a month ago.
As part of a long-planned Bucks County government and Bucks County Conservation District project, the water level at the 175-acre Lake Luxembourg in Middletown Township has been lowered to levels not seen in years, exposing areas that were previously under water.

This week, LevittownNow.com spotted people walking along the newly-expanded shoreline with metal detectors, fishing poles, and exploring the new land.

The project will restore the conservation pool, which sits along the Woodbourne Road causeway, and improve the inlet where water pours into the lake.
Bucks County is putting $800,000 toward the $2.1 million project. The remainder of the funding comes from state, federal, and private grants.

Dredging of the conservation pool is expected to begin in August. The bulk of the work will be done in fall and the lake’s water level will return to normal by December 31, which will allow bald eagles to nest.
By next April, work on planting and habitat features in and around the lake will begin.

The project will be wrapped up by next summer and the lake will be at normal levels.
