Bristol Township will move forward with blighting four homes in the municipality.
Bristol Township Council last week approved blighting homes at 969 Dixon Avenue in Croydon, 79 Indigo Road in Levittown, 50 Macintosh Lane in Levittown, and 843 Stella Avenue in Croydon.

Township Manager Randee Elton said code enforcement action on the home on 969 Dixon Avenue started in April. The building has been vacant for two years since the resident died. No family was located, and the township is cutting the lawn.
The home at 79 Indigo Road has been vacant for a year after the owner died. The owner’s son was living there, but he is no longer residing in the house, Elton said.
The home at 50 Macintosh Lane has been empty for a year since the owner died, Elton said.

The home at 843 Stella Avenue was previously blighted, but it was fixed up in 2016. The home is becoming blighted again and improvements several years ago were limited and now falling apart, Elton said.
All the homes were behind on taxes, Elton explained.
The township’s effort to blight and offload vacant properties to owners and developers who will revive them started several years ago at 204 properties. The township is now down to 54 vacant homes.

As part of Bristol Township’s efforts to fight blight, which is in partnership with the Redevelopment Authority of Bucks County, properties approved to be blighted are often behind in taxes, abandoned, eyesores, badly damaged, or the owners are dead or have vacated the property.
