A Bristol Township man has been accused of fleeing police in a car and then running away on foot, according to police.

Last Friday around 11:17 p.m., Morrisville Borough police advised via radio that a red Chevrolet Impala took off on them and they had called off a pursuit on West Trenton Avenue, court papers stated.

A Falls Township officer at Lincoln Highway and West Trenton Avenue spotted the vehicle and began following, engaging the vehicle’s emergency lights and siren, police said.

The chase carried on at a high rate of speed where the officer avoided a crash on Lincoln Highway near North Olds Boulevard, police said.

The Impala nearly struck a civilian vehicle at the intersection of Lincoln Highway and Oxford Valley Road as Falls Township police were calling off the chase, according to authorities.

The Impala traveled into Middletown Township and that agency’s officers shortly after reported they were out with a vehicle and the driver fled on foot, police said.

Falls Township police rushed to assist Middletown Township officers, putting a police dog out to search for the driver, police said.
