2000 Attend Community Sing

Two thousand people gathered at the Harriman grandstand last night to sing and enjoy the outdoor movies under the direction of the YMCA.
A large screen had been erected on eh band stand and movies were here shown, as soon as it was dark enough to let the pictures show up well.
Community singing under the leadership of William B. Kelsey, War Camp Community Service, song organizer, preceded the movies. “Ja Da,” “Till We Meet Again,” “How Ya Gonna Keep ‘Em Down On The Farm,” and the patriotic airs were sung with tremendous vim.

T. Hilton Haynes, a boy artist, 13 years old, made a hit with a number of clever cartoons, drawn on a large blackboard in the presence of the audience. Young Haynes has a future in the cartoon field, in fact, his drawings are already in demand by the Sunday newspapers. A good selection of pictures were shown and held the audience until a late house.
