Students at Harry S. Truman High School in Bristol Township were recognized recently for having the greatest percentage increase in seatbelt use in Bucks County.

Staff from the nonprofit TMA Bucks presented Truman and Principal Jon Craig with a cash grant and a trophy plaque for achieving the highest percentage increase in seatbelt usage over all schools between fall and spring. The high school went from 77 percent usage to 82 percent in spring.
The survey was taken as part of the 15th Annual Bucks County High School Seatbelt Safety Challenge.
Colleen Spinelli, a teacher and advisor for Students Against Destructive Decisions, earned the honor last week with her senior SADD students. Teacher Suzanne Denny, who supervises the high school’s drivers education program, was also present, as was SADD co-advisor Jaimie Shifren.

TMA Bucks Community Traffic Safety Program Manager Carly Mannon and TMA Bucks Deputy Director Dave Walter complimented the teachers, students, and administration on their strong dedication to teen driver safety.
“Truman High School has made it a priority to focus on teen driver safety through so many different initiatives throughout the year and this achievement is proof that their hard work and the message of how important it is to be safe drivers is getting through,” said Walter.
