Missanelli said on his 97.5 FM The Fanatic show that it was his last broadcast, which came as a surprise to listeners.
“This is my last day as the host of the Mike Missanelli Show,” the talker said in an emotional statement.
He told the audience his contract with station’s owner Beasley Broadcast Group – which also owns Ben FM, 93.3 WMMR, WXTU, and other station’s in the Philadelphia market – will be ending in just a few weeks.

“My current contract expires in a couple of weeks and the company and I decided to go in another direction … The station and I are talking about me remaining with the company in some kind of a role, but who knows. What I can tell you is they already have a replacement show under contract and I’m sure you’ll be hearing about that,” he said.
Missanelli said he had “some missteps” over his career, but he “hoped the good outweighed the bad.”

The outgoing host held back tears as he thanked his staff and co-hosts for contributions to his program.
Irreverent sports blog Crossing Board reported the radio station is already locking in deals for Tyrone Johnson and Hunter Brody to replace the famed sports talk host.
A former Philadelphia Inquirer sports scribe, Missanelli worked at WIP-AM, 93.3 WMMR, and the former WB 17 before joining 97.5 The Fanatic more than a decade ago. His show was simulcast on NBC Sports Philadelphia.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reported NBC Sports Philadelphia will continue to simulcast the afternoon show on the radio station even without Missanelli.
Missanelli, who now lives in Montgomery County, has branched out into food and hosts an online show called “The Every Day Cook.” He also has plans of releasing a kids’ book called “The Adventures of Shima The Shiba,” which details the human-like behavior of his Shiba Inu dog.

Missanelli is a graduate of Widener University Delaware Law School. According to the Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, he maintains his license as an active attorney. However, it is noted he has no private clients.
