An expansion of I-95. The location of a new business. And a logging operation.
Those were some the guesses LevittownNow.com readers had when they saw trees were being taken down at the intersection of the I-95 ramp and Veterans Highway (Route 413).

Krys Johnson, a PennDOT spokesperson, gave the real answer: the land was cleared for routine maintenance of a stormwater mitigation area.
The work began recently as contracted crews began clearing a triangle-shaped spot of land along the I-95 off-ramp, Veterans Highway, and the sound wall abutting the Bristol Gardens Apartments.
The area, which was covered in large brush and moderately-sized trees, was cleared completed and crews fixed up the berm designed to hold water.

It took a matter of days for PennDOT’s hired help to clear the years of growth.
Johnson said the the work to maintain the stormwater mitigation area is in compliance with a maintenance manual.

The work is being completed so the area can remain in compliance with National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System and Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System requirements, Johnson said.
The requirements call for regular maintenance and mowing of the stormwater mitgation areas.
