Plastic Container Company Laying Off 42 People In Middletown

A U.S. and Canadian company in the Levittown area will be cutting jobs.

Silgan Plastics on Wheeler Court in Middletown Township will be laying off 42 employees, according to Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN) notice filed recently with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry.

The job cuts will be effective June 13 and will be permanent, the notice stated.

Silgan Plastics sells packaging for food service, health care, personal care, and household and industrial uses.

The company did not respond to a request for comment.

According to data from the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, Bucks County’s recent unemployment rate was 3.8 percent, which matches pre-pandemic levels.
