The Parkland Fire Company spent last weekend celebrating their 100th birthday.
The volunteer fire company in the Parkland section of Middletown Township held an open house and celebration outside their station on Avenue D. The Uptown String Band, which is based at the fire station, performed at the event.

“We would like to thank our neighbors, community members, neighboring fire companies, our present members and our retired members (some of whom traveled great distances) and all that shared our 100 anniversary celebration with us,” the fire company said in a statement.
When the fire company formed and began protecting the community, Route 1 had not yet been built and Levittown was largely farmland.
